The South African Mountaineering Development and Training Programme (MDT) was developed to establish and maintain nationally recognised skills and training standards for the many clubs, organisations and individuals active in mountain related activities.

In 2004 - the AQN was contracted to design and manage the MDT's Quality Management System and manage the transition to meet the South African Qualifications Framework requirements. AQN was also tasked to finalise the MDT application to meet the World Mountaineering Federations (UIAA) model training standards.

Wildways Adventures offers National Qualifications Training & Assessing for the Mountaineering and Industrial Rope Access industries.

The AQN is contracted to design and manage the Wildways Quality Management System
